Troubleshooting payment failures
What do I do if a payment fails?
If you accept payments from your customers over Spruce, you can access details about all your attempted charges by logging in to Stripe. Payments may fail for the following reasons:
1. The card entered may be declined due to the bank or credit company not authorizing the payment. For example, the card number or expiration date may have been entered incorrectly, the customer may have insufficient funds, or the card may be expired.
2. Stripe blocks high-risk payments in attempts to combat fraud. For example, Stripe may block payments from accounts that have previously been linked to fraud.
You can learn more about both of these errors from your Stripe dashboard. In either case, we suggest you request an alternative method of payment from the customer if a payment fails.
