Health Compiler is a healthcare technology platform that helps direct care practices, care organizations, and self-funded health plans prove their value to employers and members through insights on engagement, utilization, utilization gaps, and cost savings. By integrating Health Compiler with Spruce, practices can surface communication engagement insights from their Spruce messaging, including channel utilization, cost savings, patient engagement volume, and identification of patients not yet using digital communication, giving providers actionable data to demonstrate outcomes and optimize patient outreach.

Setting Up Your Spruce-Health Compiler Integration

Step 1: Request API Enablement

A Spruce Administrator must request API access for the practice.

  • Log in to the Spruce application
  • Open the Team Spruce conversation
  • Request that API access be enabled for the practice

Important: API access must be enabled by Spruce before API credentials can be generated.

Step 2: Generate API Credentials

Once API access is enabled:

  • Log in to the Spruce Application
  • Navigate to: Settings Icon → Integrations & API → Create Token
  • Create a new API token using the details below:

Step 3: Copy and Store Credentials

After token creation:

  • Copy the API Token
  • Copy the Access ID
  • Store both values securely

Important: These credentials may only be displayed once and cannot be recovered later.

Step 4: Complete the Setup

Spruce API credential generation completed successfully. 

Step 5: Share Credentials with Health Compiler

Please securely share the following with the HealthCompiler team:

  • API Token
  • Access ID

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if the integration is working?

You should see your Spruce communication data reflected in your Health Compiler Insights dashboard, including engagement metrics and channel utilization data. If you don't, verify that your API credentials were shared correctly with Health Compiler and that API access is still enabled in your Spruce settings.

What kind of insights does this integration provide? 

The integration enables Health Compiler to analyze your Spruce communication data and surface metrics such as which messaging channels have the highest engagement, overall digital communication volume, active user counts, and which patients are not yet engaging through digital channels. These insights can be used to demonstrate value to employers and members, to identify opportunities for improving patient outcomes, and reducing the utilization gap.

Is this integration secure and HIPAA-compliant? 

Yes. Spruce and Health Compiler both comply with all relevant security and privacy standards, including HIPAA. Health Compiler is also SOC 2 compliant.
