Managing My Call Settings
Note: My Call Settings is only available if your organization has a phone number and has web softphones enabled. My Call Settings is only available on web or desktop. If you need to get a phone number, follow these steps.
To access My Call Settings:
- Go to Settings > My Call Settings
If you’re having trouble receiving incoming calls, check our troubleshooting guides:
Accept Incoming Calls
This toggle controls whether you'll receive incoming calls on any platform.
- On – Incoming calls directed to you will ring based on which devices you’ve enabled in My Call Settings.
- Off – No calls will ring through to you.
Managing Call Settings for Each Device/Platform
You can decide which of your devices will ring when you get an incoming call. Each device is controlled individually.
Web Browser & Desktop App
Note: Web Browser and Desktop App settings are configured separately, but the options are the same. You can have calls ring your desktop app but not your browser, or vice versa.
Allow Incoming Calls in a Web Browser or in the Desktop App
Note: This setting is only available if you have softphones enabled for web or desktop.
- On – Incoming calls directed to you will ring in Spruce when it’s open in a browser tab or in the desktop app.
- Off – No calls will ring on your computer.
Web Browser / Desktop App Calling Preference
When you use Spruce on your computer, you can choose your preference for how calls are placed.
- Softphones – Allows you to make and receive calls directly in the Spruce app on your computer using your internet connection, microphone, and speakers or headset. No separate phone is needed.
- Proxy Calling – Allows you to make outbound calls from Spruce using another phone, such as a cell phone or landline. You will dial a special number to connect the call so the other person sees your Spruce number instead of your personal number. Proxy calling does not allow inbound calls on your computer.
Mobile Phones
Allow Incoming Calls on Your Mobile Phone
- On – Incoming calls directed to you will ring on your mobile phone, based on your selected calling preference.
- Off – No calls will ring on your mobile phone.
Mobile Phone Calling Preference
When you use Spruce on your mobile phone, you can receive and make calls in two ways:
-
Cellular Network – Calls will use your mobile phone minutes and will require a cellular network signal. Incoming calls will ring the mobile phone number on your account.
- **If you use this method, and are an iOS user, please ensure your Spruce number is saved as a contact on your phone. You can read more about why this is important here.
- Softphones – Calls will use your phone's internet connection, over either Wi-Fi or mobile data, such as 5G or LTE. Incoming calls will ring on the mobile device you last used to access Spruce.
Cellular Network Settings
If you’re using Cellular Network for mobile calls, inbound calls will ring the mobile phone number associated with your account. This is also the phone number listed in My Call Settings > Mobile Phones.
When you place an outbound call, the call will be routed through your Spruce number so your personal number stays private.
Note: The mobile phone number in My Call Settings > Mobile Phones must match the device you’re using for Cellular Network calls, or outbound calls will not work.
Softphone Settings
Caller ID Display
When Softphones are enabled, you can control how incoming calls display caller ID.
- Display Full Name – Saved contacts show the full name (e.g., Jane Doe). Unsaved contacts show the full phone number (e.g., (415) 555-1234). Recent calls do not appear in your device’s call history to keep sensitive information private.
- Display Partial Name – Saved contacts show a partial name (e.g., J••• D••). Unsaved contacts show only the area code (e.g., (415) •••-••••).
- Do Not Display Caller ID – No caller details are shown, and the caller ID displays your Spruce phone number. If you choose this option, we recommend enabling Press 1 to Answer for extra screening.
Press 1 to Answer
- On – The system announces the caller’s name and you must press 1 to answer.
- Off – Calls connect immediately when answered.
VoIP Desk Phones
If your organization uses VoIP desk phones, you can specify a desk phone to ring when an incoming call is directed to you.
Allow Incoming Calls on Your VoIP Deskphone
- On – Your selected desk phone will ring when calls are directed to you.
- Off – No calls will ring on your desk phone.
Your VoIP Desk Phone
Select a VoIP desk phone to associate with your account. This is the desk phone that will ring when there’s an incoming call directed to you. You can only select one VoIP device to associate with your account.
Managing Notifications
Your notification settings are managed separately from My Call Settings. Go to Settings > Notifications to adjust them.
We strongly recommend that you turn on notifications in your browser or desktop app so you do not miss calls. The Spruce Desktop App usually delivers call notifications more reliably than a browser.
