Call Forwarding

IN THIS ARTICLE

Introduction to call forwarding

Call forwarding allows you to forward calls to your Spruce phone number to up to five cell phone or landline numbers. This list of numbers is called your Numbers to Ring list. If you list multiple phone numbers, all phone numbers will receive the forwarded call at the same time. The first person to answer the call connects with the caller, and the other call attempts are dropped.

Call forwarding is useful when going on-call for another provider. If you are going on-call for Dr. Jackson, then it is the responsibility for Dr. Jackson to update their Numbers to Ring list so that inbound calls will be forwarded to your Spruce phone number.

Note that in order to answer an incoming call to a Spruce phone number, it has to be forwarded to a cell phone or landline number.

Using Contact Groups

If your practice uses a phone tree, you will designate Contact Groups instead of a call forwarding list. For example, if your phone tree has an option to reach your front desk, you'll need to designate which phone numbers belong in the Front Desk Contact Group

Follow these steps to configure your Contact Groups:

1
Select the Gear Icon to open your Settings.
2
Select Contact Groups.
3
You will see a list of the Contact Groups that are associated with your phone tree. Select a specific  group to add or remove a cell phone number, VoIP phone, or teammate's name from that group.

If a Contact Group contains multiple phone numbers, all phone numbers will receive the call at the same time when the associated option is selected within the phone tree. The first person to answer the call connects with the caller, and the other call attempts are dropped.
