Please follow these steps to troubleshoot issues with your notifications from the Spruce android app. Feel free to reach out to our team if these steps do not resolve your issues. Thank you for your help troubleshooting notification issues!
Ensure that you device notifications are turned on
- From within the Spruce app, tap on “Settings” and then select “Notification”
- Tap on “Device Notification Settings”
- Ensure that notifications are turned on to alert you with Sound
- Ensure that vibration is turned on as well if this is an option
- Appropriately set the override for Do Not Disturb mode. Turning ON this override will cause notifications to occur while in Do Not Disturb mode.
Ensure that the you have notifications turned on within the Spruce app
- From within the Spruce app, tap on “Settings” and then select “Notifications”
- Ensure that you have notifications turned on for the appropriate conversation filters
Ensure that Do Not Disturb is configured correctly, if used
If you use Do Not Disturb on your phone, then ensure that you are allowing Spruce notifications while in DND mode. If you don’t know whether DND mode is turned on or not, pull down from the top of your phone to check if DND mode is turned on.
If you’d like to ensure that Spruce notifications are received while in DND mode, thenFrom within the Spruce app, tap on “Settings” and then select “Notification”
- Tap on “Device Notification Settings”
- Turn on the override for Do Not Disturb mode

Ensure that Google Play Services is up to date
Android uses “Google Play Services” to power notifications. It is important to ensure that you are running on the latest version of Google Play Store.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings app .
- Tap Apps & notifications > See all apps.
- Scroll down and tap Google Play Services.
- Scroll down and tap App Details.
- Tap Update or Install. If you don’t see these options, follow the steps in Step 2 and Step 3.
Clear out the cache & data from Google Play Services
Important: When you clear Google Play Services data or storage, it may delete some information saved to your device, including transit cards, COVID cards, and virtual payment cards saved to Google Pay.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings app .
- Tap Apps > See all apps.
- Scroll down to "Google Play Services."
- Tap Google Play Services.
- Tap Storage > Clear Cache.
- Tap Manage Space > Clear all Data.
